The UN-Habitat Fukuoka Office is a United Nations agency that promotes SDG 11, "Sustainable Cities and Communities," and also supports the advancement of SDGs at the local government level.
The organization carries out various urban development projects across four regions of the world—Asia-Pacific, Arab States, Africa, and Latin America—focused on improving inadequate living conditions in slums, rebuilding after disasters and conflicts, and providing technical support for urban policy and planning. The Fukuoka office oversees the Asia-Pacific region.

Activity Period: April 2025 - March 2026
Activity Area: Laos
Activity Details: In Savannakhet Province, a region with a particularly high poverty rate in Laos, we will install "Tametotto," an underground rainwater storage tank, to secure access to safe drinking water. This system can be implemented at a low cost using simple construction methods and local materials. Through training for local technicians and residents, we aim to ensure its self-sufficient and sustainable operation.
