AAR Japan is an international NGO, "born in Japan," that was founded to support Indochinese refugees. Our core principle is to be politically, ideologically, and religiously neutral, with the goal of creating a sustainable society where diverse individuals can coexist while maintaining their unique identities and human dignity.
We currently work in 18 countries and regions, providing swift emergency aid to people in humanitarian crises to save lives, as well as long-term support to help them build a better future.

Activity Period: April 2025 - March 2026
Activity Area: Kenya
Activity Details: In a primary school in a refugee-hosting region of northeastern Kenya, we will construct toilets and shower rooms in the girls' dormitory. This is to help female students who face difficulties attending school due to poor sanitation. We will also improve the sanitary environment by distributing reusable sanitary pads and soap and conducting hygiene awareness training, which will support them in continuing their education.

Activity Period: April 2024 - March 2025
Activity Area: Uganda
Activity Details: The Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, located near Uganda's western border, is a remote area far from the capital. As a result, its infrastructure development has lagged, and school facilities are not keeping pace with the growing refugee population. At the settlement's only secondary school, we will build a toilet, a sanitary pad incinerator, bathrooms, a well, and a water supply system for the girls' dormitory. Through hygiene awareness training for school staff and students, we aim to empower them to properly manage their personal and toilet hygiene.

Activity Period: April 2020 - March 2021
Activity Area: Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Activity Details: We will improve the water and sanitation facilities, primarily by building new toilets, at a primary school near an Afghan refugee settlement. This will create a safe school environment and encourage children to attend. We will also conduct hygiene awareness training for teachers and parents.

Activity Period: April 2019 - March 2020
Activity Area: Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Activity Details: In a refugee settlement, we will install communal water-fetching points to provide residents with access to safe water. We will also develop a community space around these points, complete with a green, open area for people to gather and relax.

Activity Period: April 2018 - March 2019
Activity Area: Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Activity Details: As part of our priority sanitation initiatives, we are working to build and improve sanitation facilities at public girls' primary schools in Pakistan. By installing new toilets and other facilities, we will create an environment where female students can attend school with dignity.
