The activities of the Hope International Development Agency are based on the conviction that no matter where one lives, every human being should be guaranteed the basic rights that one needs for living and be given opportunities to fully demonstrate one’s abilities. Hope International Development Agencyis is engaged in projects that enable the poorest people in developing countries to acquire skills and knowledge, as well as development activities that create economically independent communities by utilizing extant resources.
Hope International Development Agencyis implemented school toilet-building projects in Kale Malo, Ethiopia, in 2021 and Uba Yambala, Ethiopia, in 2022 backed by the TOTO Water Environment Fund. They were able to enjoy learning that having access to toilets means protecting individual dignity and directly leads to people's health through the project. In contrast, we found the fact that schools do not provide health lessons and many children do not know about menstruation until the menses start unless their mothers teach them at home. Therefore, in this fiscal year, they plan to offer training sessions on menstruation and monitor the project, in addition to the existing enlightenment activities related to toilet-building, hygiene, and toilet use.
The Hope International Development Agency was established in the wake of the international disaster emergency relief program for the great earthquake in India in 2000 and registered as a certified NPO in 2013. Currently, as an international cooperation organization, Hope International Development Agencyis is providing support to people in developing countries in the form of various international development projects, such as community development support projects in India and Ethiopia, an education support project in the Philippines, a health and nutrition management promotion project in Cambodia, a water supply project in Ethiopia, and an emergency relief project for major earthquakes.
