A volunteer group is leveraging Japan's expertise as the only country in the world to successfully eradicate schistosomiasis, to provide relief in endemic areas. In addition to "research" such as the development of new drugs and diagnostic methods, they are also "implementing" preventive infrastructure such as toilets and dams, as well as conducting awareness campaigns on-site. To protect health around the world, they are focusing on disease control activities through both research and on-the-ground support.
