Exhibition Concept
JOY in Architecture

When I think about architecture, I focus not only on what kind of form would be best, but also on what kind of use the form would create and what kind of sensation it would give to our bodies. I also focus on how architecture and surrounding environments can complement each other, because I believe that every city has unique atmospheres and experiences that have irreplaceable value. In order to simultaneously think about things smaller or bigger than architecture, things that cannot be expressed by words, and architecture, we need very large, specific, and detailed models that give us better physical understanding.

We make a number of models at various scales on a daily basis. While continuing to spend much of our time and energy making models every day, we can find boundless joy in architecture. Sometimes it is a joy of creating new architecture from models, and at other times it is a joy of discovering surprising new aspects of human lives and activities.

This exhibition conveys our architectural thinking by introducing all the studies and research on architecture we have done to this day. As part of our ambitious approach to creating an exhibition as if creating architecture itself, we traveled to Chile on the other side of the earth to do research. Our studies on how to connect the discoveries and experiences gained through the research with our design are also presented here.
There is no greater pleasure for me than to share with you many undiscovered joys through architecture.
