TOTO

Exhibition Concept
VARIETE / ARCHITECTURE / DESIRE

architecten de vylder vinck taillieu (ADVVT) opens with VARIETE / ARCHITECTURE / DESIRE a wide angled perspective on their practice. A practice of very varied kind of work — VARIETE. At anytime ADVVT wants to explore not only the making but also the being of architecture —, ARCHITECTURE. To make life longing for architecture — DESIRE.
The work of ADVVT in VARIETE / ARCHITECTURE / DESIRE shows the result of a collaboration with Japanese students, who studied eleven houses of ADVVT in drawings and models. In doing so, these students have introduced the different houses to the context of Tokyo, exploring the differences of and in this other context through the models and drawings. In this way, ADVVT not only wants to offer an exploration of their own work as such, but wants to explore contextual and cultural differences as well.
Next to that ADVVT gave a detailed insight in their work by projecting a constant loop of Filip Dujardin's photographs of their work. Almost 4000 images will take one down in the UNIVERSUM of ADVVT as a never ending CARROUSEL. On top of that, this exhibition is a JOURNEY throughout the space of TOTO・GALLERY MA itself. BEHIND THE SPACE is an idea not different from the idea of the word "MA".
