Ensamble Studio
Ensamble Studio is a cross-functional team founded in 2000 and led by architects Antón García-Abril and Débora Mesa. Balancing research and practice, their work innovates typologies, technologies and methodologies to address issues as diverse as the construction of the landscape or the prefabrication of the house. From their early works to their most recent every project makes space for hands-on experimentation aiming to advance their field and the role of the architect in society. In their work, art, science, construction and development, join forces with design seeking how to best translate ideas into matter.
García-Abril is Professor of Architecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MA, USA), and Mesa is Ventulett Chair in Architectural Design at Georgia Tech (GA, USA). Their most representative works include Structures of Landscape (for Tippet Rise Art Center, Montana, USA, 2016), Ca'n Terra (Menorca, Spain, 2018-) among others. They have won numerous awards including the 2019 RIBA Charles Jencks Award.
