The exhibition by the architect Ettore Sottsass at the MA Gallery in Tokyo, was divided into 2 sections: exhibited in the first section, at the ground floor of the Gallery, were 9 pieces of furniture designed by Sottsass in 1996 for the Gallery Mourmans of Knokke-Zoute, Belgium.
In the second section, located on the upper floor of the Gallery, were presented drawings, notes, photographs, and models of architecture designed by Sottsass and his partners - Marco Zanini, Johanna Grawunder and Mike Ryan - of Sottsass Associati Milano.
The Gallery Mourmans is directed by Ernest Mourmans, presenting mainly "work of design", in most cases produced by the gallery itself.
In the case of the 9 pieces of furniture, the work of Sottsass was inspired also by the presence of a vast and carefully tended warehouse full of prccious woods from many distant countries, collected by Mr. Peter A.W.Mueller.
