We established the CSR Committee and the specialized CSR department and started CSR activities in 2004. In fiscal 2023, the name was changed to the "Sustainability Committee". The Sustainability Committee is held three times a year with the president as the chairperson and by supervising and commanding a bird's-eye view of the three fields—environment, social, and governance— to work on sustainability management. At the Sustainability Committee, sustainability issues and materiality that includes climate change are discussed, and activity plans are developed, and each subcommittee in charge develops promotion plans, deploys them to the relevant divisions and Group companies at home and abroad, and conducts cross-divisional activities.

Process for Promoting Sustainability Management
To foster sustainable management, we believe it is essential for Group members to take initiative, guided by their understanding and shared commitment. The TOTO Group offers diverse opportunities for training, collaborative learning, and open communication, enabling individuals to recognize sustainability challenges as their own and actively implement solutions.
・Deepening Understanding and Seeing as Their Own Issue
The TOTO Group offers programs on sustainability promotion as part of its in-house training programs for new hires, newly appointed managers, and general managers and senior management. The Group provides training to help employees obtain knowledge about climate change, water resources, waste reduction, etc. as well as the Group’s past initiatives and key policies. The programs are tailored to their respective work areas and responsibilities to raise their awareness of sustainability. Additionally, it provides annual joint learning sessions for all Group employees. After the sessions, participants hold discussions in their own workplaces to take the issues as their own issue, deepen their understanding, and apply what they learned in practice.

・Internal Communication
With the aim of accelerating the activities that will lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the TOTO Group launched the “Thanks CN!” initiative in fiscal 2023 to achieve carbon neutrality in which all Group members are expected to participate. Under the slogan, “Thank your colleagues for their activities and sharing and be thanked by future generations,” the TOTO Group shares the actions of its members around the world on the company intranet. Specifically, we share the practices of the various departments in the company in a relay format, as well as individuals’ activities on the company’s social networking site. Sharing practices inspires Group members, encouraging them to work on new practices. Having more people work together improves awareness among members.
