Supporting the future of children struggling to survive with safe water and toilets
Asia Child Support is engaged in support activities hoping to bring peaceful and happy lives to children in developing countries who are struggling to survive in harsh environments. The organization also manages public lectures and other activities in Japan to contribute to the development of young people through international cooperation.
Life supported by water and a water environment leading to the future
In Myanmar, one of the target countries of Asia Child Support’s support activities, the basic infrastructures of roads, electricity, and water are still underdeveloped even in areas not far from Yangon, the capital. As a result, water shortages in the dry season and infectious diseases transmitted by water polluted by open defecation remain major problems. Asia Child Support is installing large wells with generators and water supply facilities to support people's lives in such areas by securing safe water. Furthermore, we are spreading the use of household toilets for the sanitary water environment to last in the future and offering hygiene education for children to raise environmental awareness.

・It was astonishing to see water for washing hands coming out of the tap. (Children)
・ Water shortages in the dry season have been a big problem almost every year. I have had to go far to find water, but now I am relieved because I don’t have to worry about water anymore. I am very grateful for that. (Male)
・Now I can give water to small children with no worries, as well as wash their bodies clean. (Female)
・Not only the water supply but also generators are very helpful because, thanks to them, I can now use lights and do the side job at night. (Female)
Organization history
Tetsuro Ikema, representative director of Asia Child Support, began to work to support children in developing countries after meeting children in Smokey Mountain, Philippines, who were struggling to survive in an environment where even that was not easy.
q Since its establishment by Ikema, Asia Child Support has been expanding its scope of activities. Today, it is engaged in support activities for children in ten countries, including Nepal, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Japan. In addition, in Japan, our organization is teaching children the value of life and the importance of living life to the fullest.
