Norihiko Dan

Archipelago

'92 Mar.19-Apr.25

A number of Dan's works appear extremely rational and restrained. The simple, almost stoic style of his work is also present in this exhibition. A large white object placed at the center of the gallery symbolizes this concept. Facing this are nine models, also colored white, which stand arranged in a line before a gray colored wall. A white stairway built along the glass wall of the courtyard thrusts through the glass and penetrares the interior, reflecting the sunlight and highlighting the furniture placed there. Intermingling quietly with one another, three elements marge together and evoke a stringly unique atmosphere.
