Kazuo Shinohara


1925 Born in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
1953 Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Tokyo Institute of
      Technology.
1953-62 Associate of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
1962-70 Associate Professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
1967 Awarded doctorate with his thesis "Study of the Space Composition of
      Japanese Architecture".
1970 Professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
1972 Awarded the Architectural Institute of Japan Prize.
1984,'86 Visiting Professor, School of Architecture, Yale University;
      Technische Universität Wien.
1986 Granted the title of Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
1988 Named Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
1989 Education Minister's Encouragement Prize (Government of Japan).
1990 Medal with Purple Ribbon (Government of Japan).
