
With a vision of "a world where everyone has access to clean water and toilets and can practice hygiene everywhere," the organization was founded in the UK in 1981. Currently, it operates water and sanitation projects in 22 countries across Asia, Africa, and South America, with bases in 30 countries worldwide. It aims to use support from Japan to help solve global water and sanitation problems.

Activity Details: Targeting five schools attended by children from ethnic communities who are often left behind, the project works to ensure access to clean water and toilets, enabling students to practice good hygiene habits. Furthermore, by establishing a mechanism to sustain these conditions and presenting it as a model to the government and stakeholders, the project aims to contribute to solving water and sanitation issues in schools throughout the region.

Activity Details: In Bhagalpur district, Bihar, India, where groundwater contamination and the maintenance of Water supply facilities are challenges, we will implement water quality testing and countermeasures based on the results, establish a system for maintaining Water supply facilities, and ensure that people have access to safe drinking water on a sustainable basis. Furthermore, in response to the explosive spread of COVID-19 infections in rural areas where medical facilities are inadequate, we will conduct awareness campaigns to encourage people to continue practicing hygiene habits such as handwashing.

Activity Area: Eswatini
Activity Details: In rural areas, Water supply facilities are not properly maintained, and coupled with the effects of climate change, clean water is unavailable. We will establish Water supply facilities and maintenance systems best suited to the local terrain and conditions. Furthermore, we will conduct participatory hygiene training to encourage residents to install and use toilets themselves, aiming to enable people to live healthy lives.

Activity Details: In Madhya Pradesh, where access to safe water is difficult due to chronic drought and low water supply coverage, the aim is to create a system where residents take the lead in formulating, implementing, and independently maintaining Water supply infrastructure, thereby ensuring that residents have access to clean water.

Activity In Andhra Pradesh, where access to safe water is difficult due to excessive groundwater use and drought, we will promote community-led groundwater conservation efforts and improve Water supply facilities to ensure that people have sustainable access to safe water.

Activity Details: In 30 villages in Nizamabad and Kamaledi districts of Telangana state, India, where water pollution is severe and open defecation is widespread, we will work to improve access to water and sanitation, starting with water quality management. Through awareness training conducted by our organization and local NGOs, we aim to enable residents and village water and sanitation committees to proactively conduct water quality testing and work on improving and installing Water supply facilities. We will also work to eradicate open defecation, which is a cause of water pollution, and to promote hygienic practices.

Activity Details: East Timor is considered one of the poorest countries in Asia, and the Riksha and Manufahi districts are among the poorest, with limited access to basic services such as Water supply and sanitation. We will implement a project to improve water and sanitation in these areas in collaboration with the WaterAid East Timor office. At the same time, we will train personnel to conduct outreach classes to educate Japanese children about the water and sanitation situation in East Timor, encouraging them to reflect on their lives in Japan where they have access to water and toilets, and will expand these outreach classes.
