To reduce CO2 emissions, we are striving to decrease the consumption of transport fuel, increasing transportation efficiency by improving loading methods and doing joint deliveries in cooperation with shipping companies and sales dealers.

In fiscal 2016, we have achieved reduction of 10.6% compared to the 2009 level through strengthening information sharing regarding initiatives within the Group companies.

Example1. Initiatives aimed at improving procurement, logistics and transportation

TOTO will endeavor to implement improvements with regard to the transportation of goods from individual suppliers (parts manufacturers) to TOTO’s plants. Currently, each of TOTO’s Group companies and business sites have their own procurement and transportation systems which are supplier driven. By taking a cross-sectional survey of the procurement and logistics of the TOTO Group’s businesses, and by pursuing and achieving the best logistics from a company-wide perspective, we aim to realize transport efficiencies and to reduce our environmental load.
This initiative has been implemented from 2014, and it will be expanded in future.

Example2.Joint delivery of integrated kitchen systems

TOTO works together with Cleanup Corporation in the delivery of integrated kitchen systems, although the two companies compete with each other in terms of sales. We collaborate in logistics beyond the corporate boundaries in an effort to reduce trucks, to increase the load efficiency and thereby to cut environmental impacts.

Example of improved use of fuel in transportation (Thailand)

We improved loading efficiency by changing the pallets used when loading containers, from plastic pallets to sheet pallets.
(1) By enabling pallets to be stacked 3 high, loading efficiency was improved by 50%.

(2) Previously, pallets had had empty spaces.By changing to sheet pallets, we were able to fill in the empty spaces, and loading efficiency improved by 11%.
