We give top priority to the health of our employees and their families and strive to improve their health, which increases employees' awareness and participation in a variety of activities and consequently allows companies and society to sustainably evolve towards the future. Placing such Health and Productivity Enterprise as one of the most important matters of the company management, we will continue to vigorously promote it.

Views on Employees' Health

Having a corporate philosophy of "Creating an employee friendly work environment that respects the individuality of each employee," the TOTO Group aims to be a company where a diverse group of human resources can work with peace of mind and safely take on challenges in a lively manner.

To that end, believing the most important asset is  employees, we will strive to maintain and improve the health of employees and their families from a long-term view.

We are also gradually increasing the retirement age from 60 to 65 and think that it is important for employees to develop healthy bodies and minds to work in healthy ways in order for them to have healthy and fulfilling social life lives until the retirement age of 65.

In 2006, we replaced the treatment and symptomatic therapy driven medical office with a new preventative, risk management driven health care center. We aim to reduce health risks by promoting the development of an environment that helps boost employees' health awareness and allows them to voluntarily engage in their health management and improvement, not to treat themselves once they have an injury, become sick, or have a health problem.

For employees in which anomalies were observed through a regular medical checkup and those with mental health disorders or receiving medical treatment for diseases, we work on the prevention of worsening and recurrences. We also stratify health risks and deploy measures by level by promoting the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases so that healthy employees do not turn to those subject to health management support in the future.

We also distribute health-related information and help  employees  employees stop smoking by utilizing the intranet, and we hold health related events that include physical fitness tests and walking events where employees can enjoy playing a game.

Systems to Engage in Employees' Health Initiative

The TOTO Group endeavors to improve the health management and heath literacy of our employees and their families under the supervision of the president and representative director, the direction of the director in charge of personnel and labor issues, and the leadership of the health care center at each site and the general affairs division of each business site.

Therefore, we share details of initiatives across the company meetings of the Safety and Health and Security Central Committee held twice a year and those at each business site in the Safety and Health Committee held every month at each business site.

We also strive to leverage the initiative we shared to the cultivate corporate culture to improve employees' health company-wide in collaboration with the health insurance organization and union.

Health Management

The TOTO Group stratify health risks, and deploy a variety of measures by age and position in a collaboration between the company, health insurance organization, and the union. We continue focusing on improvement of health literacy (ability to self-manage and improve their own health) so that employees get to manage their health on their own under any circumstances, including new lifestyles and work styles.

< Health Literacy Improvement >

With the aim that employees voluntarily go through the health maintenance and improvement cycle, the TOTO Group launched the Health Portal Website in fiscal 2021 to create opportunities for it.

The website allows not only employees to view their health checkup results but also us to deliver articles relevant to their individual health status, provide information on worsening prevention and information from health insurance organization, and interlock with measures and events from the company and the health insurance organization. We endeavor to raise the level of employees' health literacy through the portal.

Flow to improve employees' lifestyle habits utilizing the Health Portal Website.

Mental Health Measures

For the maintenance of mental health, the TOTO Group (in Japan) promotes the four types of care: (1) self-care, (2)line care (care from a supervisor), (3) care from occupational health staff, and (4) off-site care. However, since it has been difficult for employees to communicate with each other in the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working on developing relationships that make it easy for new employees or junior employees and occupational health staff to have interviews or consultations. We have also developed the Consultation Service Card and posted it on the intranet or distribute it employees to introduce internal and external consultation services.
