Investigating and Researching Restrooms at Healthcare Facilities

Toilets in medical welfare facilities are not only used for elimination of human waste, but for testing and health examinations, rehabilitation and where nursing care is given, and requires attention to detail and considerations not needed by other public facilities as well as a comforting, at-home feeling. TOTO researches toilets used in medical welfare facilities to offer a product that patients and medical caregivers can safety and comfortably use. To promote widespread adoption, the Hospital Restroom Society of Healing was established in 2000. And 6 companies are affiliated today.

Investigating and Researching Restrooms at Schools

School toilets significantly affect both children's physical and mental health because they are in locations where children spend the majority of their time in a day, and are even more important as evacuation locations when an area is opened to the community or in times of disaster. We also conduct surveys and research and make conferences presentations about plumbing equipment, such as through the School Toilet Research Group launched in 1996 companies in the toilet industry with the aim of developing toilets that can be used with confidence by children and local people.

Improving Unsanitary Living Environments

The TOTO Water Environment Fund supports organizations that engage in activities to improve unsanitary living environment around the world. In Myanmar, we have constructed large, deep wells with power generation, toilets, and plumbing equipment to control infectious diseases, secure water sources, and improve unsanitary outdoor environment in regions where infrastructure is not built. In Kenya, we set up water pumping systems, water tanks, and water stations for clean water in regions where people suffer from a water shortage in dry seasons or cannot easily access to safe water. In these ways, we are working on improving such sanitary conditions.
