Supporting water-related environmental activities led by local residents and rooted in the community.
In various parts of Japan, the TOTO Water Environment Fund is engaged in creative efforts to redefine and revitalize the relation between water and people’s life in the community. Involving local residents, the funded organizations are leading continuous practical activities related to the entire cycle of water use, including planting trees in the forest on the mountain from which the river originates, cleaning beaches and rivers, and protecting endangered species. Moreover, as a result of new and improved activities, the outcome of the efforts is valued positively, while strengthening the relations with local governments and corporations. As such, the project of the TOTO Water Environment Fund is expanding.
Examples of funded organizations
The TOTO Group has its global environment goal, which is to encourage and support its employees' volunteer activities. Especially, activities contributing to the Earth's environment are called Green Volunteer activities, and to encourage its employees to participate in those activities, the Group has appointed a volunteer activity promotion representative for each branch nationwide. Such efforts by the Group have been prompting the Group employees to develop an awareness of social contributions and regional symbiosis and to participate in social contribution activities. We think that the accumulation of exchanges with the communities will lead to the constructive coexistence of TOTO Group and local communities. The Group employees are participating voluntarily in the activities of organizations funded by the TOTO Water Environment Fund.
The volunteer activity promotion representative at the branch closest to the funded organization's operation shall be the contact person for that organization, who is in charge of information exchange and volunteer staff application. Exchanges with the funded organization and other local people continue after the grant period ends, expanding the activities related to the Fund year by year.
