This foundation was established in 2000 as a base for citizens, businesses, government, and specialists to work together on local environmental restoration and community development. This initiative was a direct result of the settlement of the Kurashiki Air Pollution lawsuit in December 1996.
With the goal of applying the lessons learned from environmental pollution to the future and building a sustainable community, the foundation creates learning opportunities, supports young people's education, and addresses issues such as marine litter.

Activity Period: April 2024 - March 2026
Activity Area: Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture
Activity Details: It is said that about 80% of marine debris originates from land. In Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture—known as one of Japan's top "waterway kingdoms"—we will regularly implement the "Umi Bouzu Project." This initiative encourages citizens to participate in cleanup activities along waterways and their surrounding areas.
By making the project's efforts visible, we aim to share our results with the public and foster individuals who will routinely engage in waste collection and prevention. The ultimate goal is to reduce the amount of trash flowing into the Seto Inland Sea.
